I had a green desk chair once. Been drawing green desk chairs ever since. Haven’t had a green one in 25 years now.
And don’t even ask about Hubris’ shirt. I think I had that shirt when I was eight.

I think I mentioned when this one first ran that it’s pretty much wrung straight from life.
I loved me some whitewater kayaking, and there were some months when I only got to go on one weekend, maybe. And so I got one of those mood-setting CDs (remember CDs?) and put it in the CD player (remember CD players?) and it was sounds of whitewater, more or less. I think it was a two and a half minute loop, though- spun out for an hour.
And yeah… Whitewater sounds like static. Or something being sizzled on a grill. Or… I dunno. It’s white noise. After a while, you don’t even hear it- it’s just for blocking out other sounds.
So maybe I didn’t buy static. Maybe I bought an invisible wall to keep out the sounds of the rest of the world.
Might have been worth it after all.
I like the linework in this comic.
There are a lot of ways the lines come out, depending on a lot of stuff.
When the characters are the ones we see all the time, and the action is close up, and there’s no reason to noodle around, the linework is fat and clean.
When I have more random characters, doing something that doesn’t come up much… I can’t help but noodle around. The linework is choppier, more random… but somehow more expressive.
I like that.
Is everyone getting ready for Christmas? I’m getting new skate shoes.
You can tell they’re mine, because they have extra ankle support and are large enough to fit over an ankle brace, besides.
I figured won’t be much longer that I’ll either have to quit skating or have one of those surgeries where they replace bits of you.
Cyborg Cartoonist. Sounds kinda cool.
I can’t recall inking and posting this one. You guys seem to recall everything I’ve ever done effortlessly- does anyone remember this one?
Did you ever listen to the comedy albums that made Bob Newhart famous? He had this thing where he’d do half a conversation, and your brain sort of filled in whatever else was needed.
You might also have wondered why I didn’t weigh in so much when everyone was guessing who called Hubris right before lunch. I figured you needed your three guesses.
Today’s cartoon is a case of cross-pollenating. I was writing gags for my newspaper strip The Buckets, and somehow, “Rowed Rage” came up. Well, it’s a bit forced for The Buckets, but by golly it works pretty well here!
