How many tricycles can there be in those tree branches, do you suppose? I think Marco was just being hard to get along with.

The raccoons just need to make sure he’s not dead or anything.
I mean, no sense climbing down there to rescue him if he’s dead, right?
Okay, after just not putting things here pretty much all January, and nothing particular this month, we’re back on track for a week or so…
You probably don’t want an explanation, but I feel like I owe ya, so here’s something for you- November and December exploded. I had hoped to put two long-standing projects to bed during the lull that usually happens around the holidays, but this year, lots of clients decided to burn the last few bucks in their annual budgets, and I got swamped. It’s my job, after all, and I need the money… so I took everything I could and Hubris suffered the consequences. I still don’t have those two long-standing jobs finished either.
Then, I wanted to make good on a promise to create a Hubris Calendar for the Patreon supporters (who, lord bless ’em, are pretty much Hubris’ sole income these days). The image above is the ‘February’ image. Feel free to use it as a desktop or screen saver or whatever the kids are doing these days.
Then there was the ice storm, the power outage, the exploding internet box on the pole outside our house and a long-planned trip out of town to photograph more wildlife.
Whatever. You get at least three more cartoons this week, and I think I’m on track to have more later the next week. I’d love to promise them on time, but heaven knows what’s gonna explode next.
Okay, I started out with quite a bit of space between the new cartoons on Patreon and the cartoons that run here.
And I blew that up.
Lots of clients with end-of-year budgets to burn, and loose ends to tie up on long-term projects. Also, I made a Hubris 2022 Calendar to send out to the Patreons, and that ate up some time.
Anyhow, that explains the spotty posting here, and I’m worried it’s not gonna get much better, since there’s only two more cartoons after this one that’s already been posted on Patreon. (two? one? I can’t recall right now, all I know is that I’ve gotten way behind)
So my apologies again, and I’ll see about maybe posting low-resolution images from the calendar for you guys and you can use ’em for, I dunno, screen savers. Yeah, that’d be fun.
I’ll get caught up at Patreon and get back to a better schedule. Gotta get a look at what’s happening to Hubris, after all…
Steven was a huge Scooby Doo and Josie And The Pussycats fan!
Do any of you guys remember that first season of Scooby Doo when the group weren’t actually a band, but the producers seemed to think that music should be a part of each episode, preferably in the chase scene? And then all the similarly formatted shows that followed along featured bands as the main characters.
And y’know, bands… dancing… eight frames a second animation… Ugly dancing.
The Archies weren’t the kind of band to inspire wild gyrations and all, but wow… Fred and Daphne had some lame moves. Or should I say “Move”, ’cause they only got one each.
And if you think I shouldn’t be lumping ‘Scooby Doo’, ‘Josie and the Pussycats’, ‘The Archies’, and, I dunno, ‘Speed Buggy’ all into the same group, well then, you don’t REALLY remember Saturday Morning Cartoons. Seriously, my kids know the term ‘Saturday Morning Cartoons’, but they have no personal memory of waiting a whole dang week to see any kind of animation outside of a Sugar Frosted Flakes commercial.
You ever do that? Go out onto a natural Overlook and think “This dang rock has been out here in the rain and wind and cold… what’s holding it all together?”
And you don’t know any reason it hasn’t cracked off and fallen a thousand feet down into the valley maybe a hundred or so years ago.
So what are you doing standing on it admiring the view, when you could be in the car heading to dinner at the local BBQ place?
Yeah, me neither.
Hubris deserves some peace and quiet lately, don’t you agree? You might have to look close, but he’s there, right in the middle of the peace. Right next to the quiet.
