Okay, I’m in Charlotte now. (At least, I will am supposed to have been already in Charlotte by now, which is then while I’m typing this) And my laptop is dead meat (before I went, you see, and I’m not replacing it yet) so updates might not come exactly on time. But there will be photos, I think. I always say that, and I always intend to post more of them than I do, but I’ll see what my phone can accomplish. Wish me luck.

Okay!
I haven’t seen a physical copy, but the online virtual sample is good. The book is ready!
Click on the cover image below, or HERE to order one. If it says you need a password or something crazy, try ‘hubris’.
If you’d rather wait for me to get physical copies and say, “Yeah, they really look good” or “Uh-oh, they’re not exactly right”, I won’t blame ya.
I hope to see a physical book in my hands on the 14th. I’m sorta breathless and giddy about it. Heeheeheeheeheehee!

I want to tell you, it’s very strange to pull my head back out of 2013 and the OutdoorFest. The book is uploaded and I’m waiting on the service to tell me it’s good to go. But it’s been, I dunno, kinda heartwarming to have fallen back into that story. Now, after three solid days of not seeing much else but the Outdoorfest, on top of all the fill-in cartoons that’ve been running here, to jump back to the current story is a little jarring.
But not for long. I got plans for everyone.
Welcome back to the Now, and I hope you have a taste for the Ol’ Outdoorfest soon.
Dr. Shafer was instrumental in getting built what is now Memphis’ best skatepark. It’s an outdoor affair with really good design and very slick concrete bowls. And a 16′ tall skateable steel sculpture. He and his kids should have been in the strip before, but here they are now. Dr. Shafer works at St Jude, where all the best people work.
Mental misfires. Very hard to put out, once you get into one.
Anyhow, Happy Friday the 13th. You have those where you live? Or is today just another odd-numbered day?
Extra comic! The extra comics, for those who don’t know, are because especially nice amounts have been dropped into the Tip Jar. There are a couple of ways to make sure Hubris lives here, and that’s one of them. Patreon is another. We’re five years in, now, and I think I have five years sort of figured out in advance. Meaning, I know what the final Hubris story will be in five years, and I like it. I want to get to tell it. If everyone who reads Hubris (like they say in the PBS fundraisers) gave a dollar a month (easily done on Patreon) then that five years would be extended out farther and Hubris would live on as long as you guys are patrons. On the other hand, Hubris is time consuming and it wouldn’t take a major catastrophe for me to have to back off and do more advertising work and less Hubris.
Wow. That got grim. Feel free to ignore the grim and read this instead: EXTRA HUBRIS CARTOON TODAY! I think I can have another for you on Saturday, along with your regular update tomorrow!!
If you think you might have missed a comic- you might be right. And even if you don’t think you missed a comic, you might have. I posted two yesterday. I’m trying to catch up on my Extra strips that I owe you nice folks for donating at the Tip Jar.
As always, it’s much appreciated, and, as always, I wish I could knock these things out faster so that you could have them, and there’d still be time for my usual day job and sleep and raising my kids and all that guff.
So… still got another one pencilled and ready to ink. Gonna get up early tomorrow, but there’s no guarantees it’ll be up early. But maybe you get one on Thursday this week. Y’know, ’cause you’re special. And generous.
