Somebody must’ve tried this at some point. Gonna have to do a little research. What do they do for snow in Dubai?

Nothing to sell in this spot today- just another request that you spread the Hubris! Text and Twitter and Stumble and Google+ and Facebook and all that stuff that we all seem to do all day now. Gotta get them eyes on The Hubris if we’re gonna stay in the clouds here. Thanks! You guys are fun! Now get outside and play!
Dunno ’bout you, but I drew in church as a kid, and I still doodle in the margins of the bulletin if I’m not sitting in the first or second pew. I may be a heathen, but I don’t want to upset the preacher. That kinda thing’ll get you smited.
Aaand the dinner date ends on a happy note. Hope you enjoyed it.
As for me, I got a new (used) trials bike coming tomorrow, so if I don’t break a wrist, I think Hubris might be practicing his endos next week. I’ll let HIM break the wrist.
Don’t forget to click on a few things over there to the right, and tweet about Hubris and generally let folks know we’re here. I finally ordered some stickers and I’ll need to think of clever ways to pass ’em out soon. Wanna suggest something?
In my family, the jokes usually revolve around a tendency to burn the rolls, not the kitchen itself.
This story arc is built out of several different versions written years ago. In fact, it’s probably the distillation of several different dinner dates with Mr. and Mrs. Biner. For proof of that, today’s cartoon was inked in 2003- it’s been ready to go for years. The previous cartoon was a general idea, but there was no script nor sketch until a couple of days ago. The one before THAT was written and sketched up long back, but had Hubris dressed in his hat and shorts. I can’t figure out where that came from. The two previous had prepared sketches, but they were off-size and Mr. Biner looked different. Had to redraw those. And there was one cartoon from that version that I had to toss out completely- it no longer fit the mood of the rest of the strips.
Isn’t this behind the scenes stuff fun?
Long story longer, I waded through a lot of stuff so old that it was sorta new to me again. I got to play editor with my own work and be a little objective about it, which is a luxury I won’t have with Hubris much longer. The old originals pile is getting smaller and smaller. Soon, nothing but brand new ideas here in the house o’ Hubris.
Stay tooned.
I… I don’t even have anything to say under this cartoon. It’s nicely self contained, don’t you think? What? Don’t worry. Kara smooths things over.
While you’re waiting for that- Vote Hubris there off to the right. And Google+. And RSS and all that other cool stuff. Spread the Hubris.
Okay- last of the golden oldies. This is the first Sunday cartoon I did for the original package. Hubris was still more like me- in fact, this happened to me the first time I tried to rappel- and so a lot of the Sunday cartoons were designed to be educational in a sick sort of way. “Watch out or THIS might happen to you!” educational. Fun, yeah? Later on, I decided to do the Crowd-Gag style Sundays, which I have put on the site before, and I think are wonderful because they slow a reader down, give the reader something to concentrate on, and make for an entertaining visual experience in a way that the average 3-second Sunday cartoon don’t offer. The syndicates said I should try to stick with the general concept of Sunday cartoons (like today’s cartoon does). The only upside that I see to the ‘tell a joke in a longer format’ Sunday is that it doesn’t take as long to draw. I like the look, feel, and theory behind the busy stuff.
