So, I’ve got this doctor thing tomorrow. And I can’t have caffeine all day today, right? So, I haven’t.
There’s probably a conclusion to that idea, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out what the hell it is.
Time is all weird, and I can feel the great grandmother of all headaches coming, I feel like I need a nap, and by tomorrow morning, when I haven’t had enough caffeine to make a neuron jiggle, I’m supposed to do some kind of stress test and run on a treadmill.
And I bet I know what the result of the test will be. That I can never have sweet, sweet caffeine again.
Goodbye, thoughts. It’s been nice having you.
Sundays are weird. It’s like they’re a different kind of thing than the other six days of the week.
Do you feel that? Or is it just ’cause I’ve been doing comic strips so long that the format change has crept into the feeling of the day itself?
I grabbed a different brush today. You might not think about high-end watercolor brushes, and the fact that they wear out.
I caught myself working with a newer brush and really enjoying all the snap and the little tiny lines it can make.
Every career has its little things like that- the sort of thing that people in different careers can’t be aware of. That’s fun to think about.
I’m trying to eat healthier these days.
Easter time is NOT an optimal time for that kind of thing. Waaaay too many candy eggs around.

Nothing looks as good on GoPro video as it looked in real life.
Which makes you wonder how mind blowing all that really incredible stuff in their commercials was to the people strapped to the cameras.
Wednesday was weird. I had a two-part caricature gig at a convention.
Most caricature jobs aren’t two-parters. But this client was smart and familiar with their scheduling, so I had a couple of hours just after lunch and another couple of hours just after dinner. Good planning.
But on a Wednesday. Usually those things happen on Saturday, so the whole day had a Saturday feel. Add to it that my kids are on Spring Break, and the feel of a weekend was complete.
Also- I tend to tune out reality while I’m doing caricatures. There’s a lot of focus that gets spent on a thing that’s done and then whisked away in moments, and so the memories of each drawing get dumped as the next person sits down and you go through the routine again… and the memory is dumped as you move on to the next subject. So, by seven in the evening, I had misplaced four hours of time. Add to it that Daylight Savings Time means that the sun hadn’t yet gone down when I left the convention center… So I had no idea what day it was or what time it was supposed to be.
I got a whole Saturday out of a Wednesday. Cool, huh?
It’d be nice to have the sort of quiet spirt that you’d be able to feel things coming.
Me? I got stories and noise in my head all the time. Can’t feel nothin’ coming except indigestion after eating junk for lunch.
Might be the junk food, come to think of it. Hard to have a quiet spirit when you got a grumbling gut.
