Drive Poster

Some of you have found your way to Hubris by way of Dave Kellett’s DRIVE strip (it’s great, isn’t it?) because of me entering Dave’s DRIVE poster contest.

For those of you who didn’t see that, here’s the poster design I did and the alternate that I like better.  The humor in the alternate is, I think, better suited to the spirit of the strip, but that might be something I’m bringing to it myself.  I be likin’ the snark.

Go, Team HUBRIS!

Hey!  Comic Riffs at the Washington Post is doing their annual ‘What’s your favorite Webcomic’ contest again.  Can you head over there and tell them all the webcomics you’d like to nominate… including Hubris.

Just E-Mail Michael Cavna at comicriffs@washpost.com – something like “I really like Hubris and maybe a couple of others but mostly Hubris at http://hubriscomics.com is the very best.  Woo!”

Or you can go HERE and see the article and register/log in and leave comments and all that heavy duty stuff.  Either way.  I appreciate ya. More than I can say and not get all mushy. You know.

You guys are so cool.  Thanks.

Mr. Avery’s Wall

You know what makes for good wall decorations?  Skateboards.  There’s some really nice artwork there, and by golly, if you get sick and tired of one or another, you can take it down, skate on it until the artwork is GONE, and go see what other exciting art is available to hang in it’s place.  Let’s see you do THAT, Mona Lisa.

So Thanks, Craig Avery, for sending photos of your walls for the site!  You rock and, more than likely, roll.

Election YYYyyyyyyeeeeeeaaaaar.

Are you ready?  We’re entering into Election Year- The longest, most divisive, most insulting year we’ve all seen in our time.  Of course, we expect all our prospective overlords to behave in rational, adult, coherent ways…. BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAAAHHHAHAHAAA!  I’m sorry.  I can’t even WRITE that with a straight face.  The Ungoverned are going to %$#@ on us and tell us it’s raining, and they’ll be baffled when we don’t sing and dance for the rain.  The sorry SOBs are going to tell us that their own personal buddy God sent them to us, and they’ll merrily believe that we’re heathen that deserve hell when we don’t share in their delusions.

That said, I reckon I’ll kick aside this soap box and toss another Big World cartoon atcha.

Okay, Dad! Say “Cheese”!

My son caught this horrible photo of me.  It’s horrible for a few reasons.  #1- the skatepark was not officially open, though there was some discussion as to why the lock was off the gate and the ‘no trespassing’ signs were all removed.  #2- I’m horsing around on a longboard instead of a shortboard… it’s the wrong tool for the job, but I love my Dregs longboard.  I do.  #3- I’m not wearing a helmet.  It may look a little like I am, but that’s just my head.  Ick.  Anyhow, I set a bad example for my kids (who WERE wearing theirs) and for the cub scouts I’m den leader for.  Bad Daddy, Bad!

I landed on my feet, though.

I carved a neat looking Dinosaur-skull helmet out of a block of closed-cell foam.  Anyone here know how to do fiberglass?
