Commitment issues… I can relate.
My first thought is Hubris doesn’t want to leave anyone behind who is hurting. Then the zinger when his dad thinks about it. You are so mysterious about whatever happened to Hubris’ dad.

Hubris fears loosing another person so he doesnt push them away if he cares about them, he lets them go even if it upsets him out of fear of loosing them all together like his father.
I think by Sunday morning Hubris will be a lot better, sleep y’know. And I bet by Sunday night it will be soooo “Steve Who?” and Kara and Hubris will be back to their friendly but not quite deadly competition they call their friendship.
[I’ve seen a bumper sticker that said: “My beautiful grandchildren are still in my selfish daughter’s ovaries” … that drive for grandkids can be overwhelming sometimes. I hope Mr. Biner realizes the less shoving the more likely some will happen someday.]
Somewhere toward the beginning of the Kira-Hubris relationship, he made the prediction that she would marry (I think) an anesthetist, and Hubris would be there to pick up the pieces after it went south.
