Been there, Hubie. Some customers seem to think that they’re the last shopper in the world. If you don’t sell it to them, for their price, RIGHT NOW, you’ll never sell at all. They don’t seem to realize that the next person in the door might be happy to get the very same item for full price.
Oh, and their offer is always “cash, out the door.” (no sales tax, put the money in your pocket and pretend this never happened).
Very common theme when I do shows. So much so I printed cards: Why I Won’t Take Less. One bit mentioned is that yes I have it priced to sell it at that, if it doesn’t sell today I can live with that, and it will sell. (So standing there demanding I give it to you for less than the materials cost isn’t going to happen. Either pay the tag price or do without) One has to get a thick skin when dealing with the public….
