Hubris finds plenty in his life to be happy over. He loves DOING in the great outdoors. He has friends, a job he sorta likes and the gungho to do it ‘because it’s there’…. kinda feel sorry that at the end of the exhausting but has it’s moments outdoorfest, Hubris got a downer. Maybe he’ll go climb the rock face tower, or go abuse a wagon again… or even come try the cardboard and duct tape kayaks just to do it. We can hope that after the fest is over Hubris has a good dream of his dad maybe…
Hubris-ish… yeah, Hubris has his own style and way.
Hubris-ish-ness, that’s very much a thing.
[losing your parents is hard. Especially when you’re still a kid…]
There are cheerless people, and there are things that take the cheer out of people. But, you know, when that happens, cheer up!
(It could always be worse.)

True.
There’s nothing in life that’s so bad that it couldn’t somehow become worse.
Which is all the more reason to recognize that every good thing in one’s life is a gift, & every gift is all the more precious, simply because it’s not guaranteed to last.
So I try to appreciate the good, while I still can.
I’ve discovered over the (many) years, that if you don’t treat an angry person seriously or even with equal anger, they get REALLY mad. It’s not always true that a soft answer turns away wrath.
However, it’s loads more fun to torment the angry person with humor. Especially at their expense and really especially if they don’t realize what you’re doing.
Beware. I have a few stories about how this can backfire badly. Don’t feed the crazy, and just leave them alone. Sometimes just being neutral to them is the best solution…

Then there is Bob, who is always just Bob.
…who thinks his OWN dad is too laid back, but can’t see how close the apple has fallen to the tree…

I’m adding “Hubris-ish-ness” to my listing of word-ology.
