Could be the first time he’s said more than five words to either of them in ages. [Spouse used to have a job at a place that was a notorious marriage killer; keeping up with the deadlines could suck away any other life activities and finally the (usually wife) has had it and takes the kids and everything not nailed down and leaves. We survived it only because I’d had a job like that once and I understood the other side of it and we didn’t have any kids to have an invisible dad…] I’m betting Mr. S-C is one of those…. and Genoa’s responses there make perfect sense then, so does Mrs. S-C’s….

I gotta say I guess I was never one of those kids impressed by a parent that was off his/her tracks.
Camping was fine. But when it was decided that things weren’t “adventure filled enough” and that we needed to spice life up with a camping trip to Harwick Pines… In the middle of February… During one of the coldest winters the U.P. had ever seen…
Yah-no… Not so much into crazies…
Especially one’s own parent that seemed more hell bent on killing her offspring.
Aka ‘you are not camping if you pull into the paved and lit place and toss a tent under the neon ‘camping’ sign … ‘ group.
Maybe Mr. S-C will luck out yet on one of those three things Mrs. S-C mentioned earlier….
