I had meant to do a Blog Entry sort of thing this morning, thanking (by name) folks that have contributed to the tip jar, but I’m still running behind. I’m setting up a Hubris (and Buckets) booth this weekend at Charlotte’s HEROESCON. It’ll be fun on a bun in the sun. I haven’t forgotten, though, that you guys have earned a couple more extra cartoons. I stayed up late the last few nights and they’re all ready to load up. You’ll get Friday’s regular strip, then new ones again on Saturday and Sunday, then sail straight into the regular Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday updates. Oh, you’ve got some Hubris this weekend, I tell ya!
Okay so it’s the front page in living color of that newspaper?
I’m betting it is.
A herd of flaming buffalos stampeded the store and it’s a marshmallow roast.
[had friend in big metro, have five escaped buffalo from a local meat processing plant get away, traveled about a mile through town and ended up in his yard. The police decided to play shooting gallery to kill them instead of say back up a trailer full of grain and hay and see if they would self load… or use a weapon capable of killing them. So over a hundred shots were fired, his house, garage, etc were shot; neighbor’s house and car were shot; and footage on the news and the paper. It was done by the time he got home from work, he finds his garden totaled and the neighbors had to tell him what happened then he got the rest from the 10pm news cast. I am not making this up!]
Billy has good aim.
Next, we should be getting the nice neighborhood cop that doesn’t always recognize Hubris in the dark.
I suspect that Hubris was up, and faking sleep.
A great callback to the very first Hubris strip, (click the link labelled The Beginning) but one that made me think “going full circle? it isn’t ENDING, is it?”
Still, a “Billy delivers the paper” strip should be a regular thing to separate the end of one story arc from the beginning of another. Just saying.
One more thing… would you happen to know another cartoonist named Rich Powell? Because he seems to know you…
Wide Open Comic for 6/19
I do know Rich! He won a Silver Reuben award last month in San Diego and he’s brilliant.
…
And I’ve just been to look, and he put my name into his comic strip today! How cool is that?
I tried asking him if he knew you, back some months ago, but he never replied back. I’d asked because he’d just finished this really nicely-drawn zombie bass to be used for a tattoo, and it ranked right up there with your skateboard deck work. I wanted to suggest that the two of you team up on something, or do a draw-off at a con sometime. I was disappointed that he’d ignored me.
Anyways, congrats on being named in Wide Open!
I just looked that up. Talk about massively cool… and yes I laughed. A lot.
KEWL on all the extra strips coming too! Thank you!
Have a blast at the Con
