A big welcome, everyone, to Dr. Biner!
Well, the wildly varying quality of reproduction continues here at Hubriscomics.com. The previous comic was probably the first one I ever colored. Today’s is the first one I ever drew entirely in the computer. One of these days, things MIGHT level out. Or maybe I’ll just keep playing around with different stuff.
We grow up in the U.S. being fed the HOLLYWOOD myth. If you enjoy singing, playing sports, creating music, writing stories, designing games, drawing cartoons, or pretending while in costume, you’re told that someday someone will ‘discover’ you and make you rich and famous. Now, if you say it out the way I just did, it sounds crazy- for a lot of different reasons, too- but a lot of people live with that neat little dream in their heads. I know I do. Anyhow, the people that really tick me off are the ones who expect the fame and fortune that are the rights of the diligent cartoonists, but don’t actually DO anything like sing, play music, write, draw, play sports or act. I’ve met ’em, you’ve met ’em. And therefore I give you: Paste, the kid with half a dream.
A 12 year old boy that I showed this cartoon to fell on the floor laughing. Twice. I hope you enjoy it just as much. Also, I claim the term (and look the term) McDominals. Use it and credit me. I wanna be famous for ‘McDominals’. Yeah. McDominals! McDOMINALS!
Sorry for the inconsistent linework on the strips. I usually illustrate for books and stuff- 300 dpi minimum. All this 72 dpi stuff is stone knives and bearskins to me. This cartoon was colored and saved a while back before I knew which buttons to click to keep the lines from being all hard and ugly. I’ve learned my lessons, though, so stay tuned. Better and better things coming.
(UPDATE- I’ve gone back and fixed the horrific pixellation problems. Any linework problems and remaining horrors are purely the fault of the artist’s art and not the fault of the artist’s ineptitude with file conversion.)
