Durnell’s not up for any bromancing, then, I take it.

Has anyone checked under the bed for Bob?

I had to look up “patchoulli”, and I still don’t really understand that reference.
Used for perfume (Bob? really?), moth balls, and incense (OK, maybe. Bob is… um, “unusual”).

Incense was my immediate take. Also, that smell you get in good Tree-of-Life type clothing of the Nepalese style. It’s a good insect repellant which doesn’t smell foul, and they tend to put a lot of it on the new clothing when they sell it. Bobs trademark pants could well have that patchouli smell, or his hair.

Perfume isn’t that unlikely: It’s often used in meditation, to focus the mind, so there’s that.

The reference may be outdated. Earthy people used to use Patchouli oil to scent themselves or their their living spaces. Or in lieu of bathing, if you believe the more bigoted old lore. “Earthy People” is a euphemism for ‘Hippy’, or in this case, ‘neo-hippy’. (Since you didn’t get the Patchouli reference, I worried I might be too obscure with ‘Earthy People’.)

At least some people use patchouli to cover the scent of MJ. Although, Bob may not need artificial aids.

Patchouli is a time honored smelliferous stuff that really hit the mainstream fringes in the 60’s. It can kinda cover MJ, and it can kinda chase bugs; but it usually just gives me a big headache. I can guess that Bob may use some patchouli oil in his personal ministrations…

Incense was the first thing that came to my mind, but not immediately.
