In the olympics, apparently they don’t shoot paper targets any more, but have a spinning disc. It’s white on one side and black on the other. I guess that way, if you’re hitting the exact same spot over and over again, You don’t have to send someone out there to find nicked bits of paper on the ground. That could seriously mess with your finishing time.
Before anyone can point it out- Yes, Dad Biner is concerned about using a weapon “with enough stopping power”, but is also shooting a weapon that requires reloading after only six shots. Two behaviors that you don’t always find in the same people. Live with it, if possible. I have discovered that I much prefer drawing revolvers over automatics. The original version of this strip had nine ‘bam’s, and I had sketched an automatic (something hefty. A Springfield, maybe.) Aaaand I changed it.
Should I point out that I came up with this storyline before I heard anything about Ferguson? I should.
It was kinda late to move up another storyline. Awwwkward.
When you hear people with novel and specific ideas… or conspiracy theories… or who listen to a lot of overnight call-in talk radio, say things like “It makes sense if you think about it”, that’s when you assume it’s safe to tune them out. When they’re setting up targets and are about to pick up a firearm, then maybe you want to pay close attention to what they say, and maybe smile and nod a lot. And maybe make sure they don’t have your address or phone number.
