Hubris- She Shoots Shotguns at the Showy… Bird
Sep27
Dusty finds herself backed into a corner. She’s got a couple of potential lawsuits already, and a loose bird, and her own personal safety at stake.
But that is one expensive bird, y’know?

Right now, I’m rooting for the bird. It only seems to be violent with anyone trying to capture or control it. And, that thing with Durnell’s tux…
I have a bet that the 4 minute sermon the bird gave was about Dusty Trails, the dude, and the show….
[FeelinForYa]:
I’d add to that — the red wattle under the beak is usually a MALE trait…
…so Dusty is probably guilty of improper ‘gender-based conduct’ to her feathered co-worker on the job.
For all we know, the bird’s earlier monologue might translate as:
“I was promised FEMALES in return for this job – WHERE’S MY FEMALES!!!?!”
It’s mentioned by Durnell it’s a he. Where is Chase R. Ambule? Apparently the ‘Because it’s There’ crew have totally sent Tweety’s/Reverend SquawkHawk’s contract and working conditions around the bend. Let’s see Chase R and the Rev in the courtroom against Dusty and the producer… heh.
The plot thickens . . . .
Assuming that’s a tranq gun on her shoulder and not a shotgun we’re in for an innocent bystander or two being darted…
Rather than un-sling it, the gun could be rotated to bring the butt forward. Firing behind herself might increase the odds of nailing an innocent bystander, but it could also ‘shoo’ the bird back to a safe distance, & give her the time needed to get in a proper shot.
Which begs the question: “How long do most tranq-guns need, to reload?”
Usually a single action breech so the chamber has to be manipulated open to remove the previous round’s firing charge holding cartridge, and a new one laid in. Usually too they have a big bright tassel at the end that may be captive or may need tucking, then the bolt manipulated and the round chambered. So a minute or so even if you are skilled. I doubt Dusty is at her peak on this.
