I’ve tried a couple of different kinds of protein pancakes. First was a recipe that a personal trainer had come up with. Kinda tricky, and I never got it right. The other is a commercial brand, and I figure there’s probably not as much protein in there as they say there is. You watch. “Protein” is the new ‘Gluten Free’ or ‘No Trans Fats’. Big seller.
Hey, just take a box of gluten free pancake mix, lollow instructions, add one scoop of veggie protein powder and a little extra liquid. Add a bit of oil to the batter too-they will stick less. Now make your pancakes. For GF do make them a little thin so they cook through. Voila.
Bob cooking could be something scary. Even moreso, that Hubris had something around there to cook with on hand… remember the Tikka Masala sauce jar bit from awhile back…. ?
Well, for those who don’t have celiac disease (that’s most of us), there’s that really good source of plant-based protein called gluten. Good stuff!
Yeah.
I totally agree, tasty too. Makes great bread, pizza crust and that flaky crust on Tastee-Kakes! Just wish it didn’t attack me and make me wish I’d die. It gets revenge on me because it can’t on you….. ?
I always order my pancakes with extra gluten. Figure they have extra in the back due to the people who keep it out of their diet.
If you make bread in a breadmaker sometimes you have to add a little extra gluten to get it to come out well. You can buy it in the grocery store usually in bags….
For protein pancakes, precook crumbled bacon or sausage and fold into regular pancake batter.
Better, get your bacon to ‘chewy’ and pour pancake batter over it in the pan. Mmmmmm
That works too.
Leave out the flour. Call them “Omelets”.
I think I’ll just stick with protein shakes.
why am I not surprised by the ‘experience made’ pancakes?
My pancakes are proteined. They have eggs and buttermilk in them. Then I cover them in butter flavored corn syrup.
I can’t eat most of the protien powders, as they contain whey and I’m dairy intolerant. I hate it, cuz I LOVE cheese, and I love milk, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE ice cream. *cries*
Allan, there are some protein powders out there that aren’t whey based. Garden of Life, Raw Organic Protein-unflavored…. is whey free. Have you tried goat milk? Some that can’t have cow milk can have that.
I stick with Almond Liquid.
(I can’t call it milk … how can you call it almond milk … have YOU ever seen a teat on an almond? IF so … how the hell do you bloody well grip it to milk it? 😛 )
(Very gently)
What is that stuff inside a coconut?
That’s the secret that they charge so much for, Allan.
hope all kinds of stuff doesn’t include hubris making a trip to the er as an excuse to see kara later
I guess you haven’t heard about the whole Atkins Diet thing yet then.
Even a new commercial at with Rob Lowe as a spokesperson. [shakes head] Little ‘ahem worthy’ for those of us who lived through the 80’s. X1
