The tricky thing about alcohol- and I’m not the first to say this by any stretch of the imagination- is that it takes away your ability to make considered decisions about time.
I think it was Dennis Miller in one of his Rants books who described having another drink and another, all the while whittling away the hours you intend to sleep before you go to work the next morning. Something along the lines of “Well, I meant to go home an hour ago and get some sleep, and if I leave now, then I could still get five hours before I have to get up… but if I stay another two hours, and skip my shower… Bartender, another round!”
Knowing you have a day and a half to mop up your daily life before a large and time-consuming job, what would YOU do?
In my younger days when I was still in the Air Force I probably would have stayed up. Now I’d already be catching a nap.
He is so right about Twitter.
Adult beverage (one to three). Sleep a lot. Bite a calorie and shower. Check time. Repeat until getting close to time of must present body.
(So I’d get maybe six shots of jaeger and 2-3 good sleeps and be showered up by then)
Durnell made it clear last time he keeps himself straight when he’s working. Just need to keep him working longer.
Get ‘er durn!
didn’t know that Larry the cable guy was following us. hehe
really sounds like ‘that’s my cue to leave here’ hehe
From “The Temperance Union”
We never eat fruitcake because it has rum.
And one little bite turns a man to a bum.
Can you imagine a sorrier sight
Than a man eating fruitcake until he gets tight!
Now that’s funny.
The more Durnell talks … the more I’m convinced he’s a Canadian.
I’m happy drunk. I just get friendly and jokey until I fall asleep.
Worst thing I’ve done is me and a group of friends on camping trip decided to go skinny dipping in a lake. Not the smartest thing when you’re not completely coordinated and they’re all kinds of bushes and bugs to attack you.
Live and learn. But I’d do it again.
*opens a beer*
Pretty sure that Dennis Miller is the sarcastic one…
…& that you’re thinking of LARRY Miller, who also voiced the “Pointy-Haired Boss” in the “Dilbert” cartoons.
