I’ve never been much of one for team sports. Kayaking, disc golf, mountain biking, unicycling, skateboarding… there’s not a lot of shared responsibility for the Win, in the sports I like.
Mostly, though, there’s not a lot of opportunity to let down your teammates in the sports I like. Hell, there’s hardly any competition in the sports I like.
I was never one for speed while mountain biking, or gymnastics while skating, or floodwater sluices and hair runs in a kayak, either.
I’m like Hubris, which makes sense. Sports don’t have to be organized or coordinated or even serious.
Uh-oh. I just realized… I just like to play outside. Whether or not there’s a sport involved doesn’t actually interest me.
Every time I did something outdoor “sports/activity” related, the other guy (usually a guy, often my brother) would do everything they could to make my part of the activity miserable. The only exception was when I was on long-distance group bike rides in Austin. Those were good people.
Otherwise, yeah, I’m happy to boulder or bike on my own.
There too is an “I” in TEAM. If you use the right font, to get a squarish A, then you use the top hole for the dot, and the space between the lower parts to get the body of the lower case I….
Hey Frisbee golf, I know you do that one, Greg..
Let’s see how Paste does here with actually having to support his team members as well as himself. Heh. This is going to be… CALVINBALL!!!!!! (the canoeists have masks… just no holes in theirs).
There’s a “me” in “team.”
There’s also a “meat.” But it’s usually not fresh.
just
I am all about participating when it comes to a team sport.
I got to play…..even if we lost…..I got to play.
I was always the kid last picked or the odd one out so just being able to play was the reward. I always gave all I had.
I was that way too, until we started playing volleyball. I had a magic wrist and could serve it to within 6″ of anywhere on the other side that I wanted. I could also look one place and serve it another. I became the person, over your bestest best friend, you wanted to pick. Team captains would hope to win the coin toss so they could pick me. Anything else I would get to stand around not wanted and sometimes the team captains would flip a coin to see who had to take me. Offering a virtual hug as everyone should have one of those moments.
I just realized I’ve been saving the world one day at a time for a decade!
… by staying in side 20-23 hours of the day.
Paste really looking like leprechaun from the leprechaun horror movies today haha
I keep wondering when Paste’s hair will grow back, but then I remember we’re just a couple of days into the ‘fest.
Yeah, Paste is going to be chrome dome for about another 35 years in our time to get a few weeks in Hubris-ville time.
