So I went to the National Cartoonist Society’s Reuben awards this past weekend. Part of the goody bags (totes filled with books, pens, catalogs, drink cozy, pins, shirts, etc.) is the HAT. You had your choice this year of Navy or Pink Hat. My wife and I both took Navy hats. Later during the conference, I noticed that there were still a lot of pink hats left. So I had an idea and asked for another hat. Pink, please. Then went around asking hotshots to autograph it. Of course, I put my official NCS pin on it and a Hubris sticker, just to kick-start the thing.
Now that’s spiffy.
When’s it going up on eBay? 😀
When I’m done wearing it, I guess. There’s a lot of autographed stuff around here that’ll make for an interesting estate sale in a few dozen years.
Greg … when you see people like Lynn Johnson and Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman for example … do you still get the “oh my gawsh … I’m standing talking to ____________ … I love their comics!!!” and a giddy feeling in your stomach, or, because of your awesomeness (in the top 3 for me) it is “meh, I’m here with an inferior artist.” ??? 😀 (BTW the ppl listed above are also in my top 3 … I can’t decide in which order, so you’re all tied for #1)
(Lynn of course does For Better or For Worse, and Jerry and Jim do Zits together, so they are “one” comic strip, and not two.)

That is a list of the comics I read *DAILY* (and on Sundays, I read the 2nd Foxtrot). BUT you can see how difficult it is for me to chose my favourites!
I used to read Cathy, Dennis the Menace, and Calvin and Hobbes but they all got boringly repetitive.
Yeah, I still geek out. I do a smaller-tier cartoon, so I figure I have every right to still look up to the hotshots. At least until Hubris becomes an upper-tier cartoon. You guys are helping with that.
Uh … Greg? Give yer head a shake … GoComics reports you having 23,739 followers. That’s close to “Reality Check”, and more than “The Middletons” and “Monty” … (just click http://www.gocomics.com/features there, and hover over the names of comics… the subscriber number is on the right of the bubble.)
