I’ve been doing cartoons for a long time. In the family strip I do, The Buckets, I’ve had lots of time to study various human traits and weave them into the humor.
You may have noticed the same things I have, but because of non-cartooning reasons.
Stuff like- People rarely seem to understand when the humor is about them. And, people seem to hate worst in others the traits that they don’t like in themselves (and that often define their own behavior) And, of course, nobody much likes it when they have to think about the psychology behind the comic strips to get the gag.
And cartoonists are apparently full of themselves.
I want it all, I want it now, and I’m not going to wait.
So he wants to move into the woods in Maine and live as a hermit for 27 years? (true story)
Wonder if he has real cash to pay for all that…poor Hubris.
Those eyes! Those eyes! Those poor, Hubris eyes!
In all honesty, I’ve been in the various positions of that situation… I’ve been the overworked, underappreciated employee. (worked as a shoe stock clerk at the old local Walmart) I’ve been the entitled jerk a time or two. (don’t recall specifics but I’m not going to pretend I haven’t been one. I’m too honest with my flaws.) And I’ve been the person outside watching the mess play out in front of me. (no need for a specific example on this one)
Also have been the listening ear for many of the other fellows going through said situation.
Some times it’s really funny, some times it can be enlightening. But mostly I just found it all very tiring. So much unnecessary unpleasantness. [tired sigh] Makes for very long days.
a jerk is talking about avoiding jerks…interesting. I guess.
He’s saying “*I* did this! *I* bought this store!!! If I tell this person what they REAAAAAALY need to hear, I don’t have this store anymore.. THEN I CAN GO FIFTY MILES INTO THE FOREST BECAUSE I WILL BE BROKE!! k-keep smiling.. *light dig at idiot* he won’t notice..”
I hope..
Culture Beat “Mr. Vain”
Call him Mr.Raider call him Mr.Wrong
Call him Mr.Vain
Call him Mr.Raider call him Mr.wrong
Call him Mr.vain
He’d say: I know what I want
And I want it now
I want you cause I’m Mr.Vain
I know what I want and I want it now
I want you cause I’m Mr.Vain
Cartoonists help us cope with these jerks in daily life!!!! Hilarious…. and I am sometimes that person.
