When I was kayaking whitewater, there were always stories, especially around Dam-controlled rivers, of people doing dumb things. And making videos of it, usually.
And while I’m certain that Kara’s desire to kayak around hoping to help someone in need is entirely more important to her than getting to paddle that spillway… well, I’m sure there’s SOME tiny, if unconscious, part of her mind that’s telling her that it might be runnable.
Not in a storm at night. Oh nonononononononoooooo, but maybe you could scout it out a little while you were there, y’know, with the excuse that you HAD to be there, ’cause you were, y’know, RESCUING.
I’m with Kara. Let’s RUN the SPILLWAY!
Is anybody familiar with the outdoor writings of Patrick McManus? This is starting to sound like something he’d write about. Hilarious, at least while you’re camped up by a fire, with fuzzy socks on and a warm beverage. 🙂
Haven’t read any of his for a while. The stories are always a lot more fun after the danger is past.
I am enjoying these so much. Complete heaven.
Let’s get Kara back with Hubris as soon as possible.
Kara and Hubris need to be together!!
Hubris still has some issues to work out, probably.
Besides, that “big jerk Steven” hasn’t dumped Kara yet.
WHOA! THREE COMICS IN ONE MONTH!
Greg, you’re spoiling us now! 😛
Yeah. I could get used to this…
@Soupy
I’ve got all of his works, in 8 books, plus a cookbook he wrote with his sister, The Troll. I am not permitted to read them out loud.

I can’t read them without sound effects. Loud, choking, snorting sound effects. 🙂
hehehehe – _exactly_

My guess is Hubris might be in the spillway… Or close enough to be affected by it if the dam blows.
Nobody tell Kara that someone swam the Hoover Dam
I see that–as of 2day–GoComics has “changed” their format, and now demands a $3/mo subscription to view archived strips.
Fortunately, “Hubris” is completely accessible here (thank you,Greg). I guess it was a blessing in disguise that GC dropped “Hubris” from their lineup, or we’d have lost access to anything older than 2 weeks.
Anyway, thank you, Greg, for maintaining this site and making the strip available to all.
How about this, Hubris’s truck slides into the spillway and Kara, without knowing who it is, kayaks to the rescue. She rescues Hubris and they reconnect.
Hubris has been on his bicycle since riding off into the sunset some time ago. Kara might find him in an inflatable raft, If he packed one.
In other news, GoComics has wasted no time raising their per-month charge from $3 to $5. Genius!
