My wife and I watched ‘Jackass III’ the other night. We saw the first two at the theatre, believe it or not. We have an interesting marriage. Anyhow, we watched the latest installment, and I have to wonder- How do they keep the guys from thinking all the way through a bad idea so that they’ll actually go on camera and give it a try? I mean, when you’re riding on trails and crash your bike into a tree, you can always say, “Well, I didn’t know THAT was going to happen. It didn’t LAST time.” But the guys on Jackass? How do you get a guy to agree to let an NFL player kick a football into his face? How do you get a guy to raise his hand and volunteer to be in a Port-O-Potty bounced sky-high on bungee cords? Ride a minibike over a ditch? Stand in front of a minibike that’s jumping a ditch? All I’m saying is that I prefer my accidents to be accidental. I prefer to look back and say, “Huh, well, there’s no way I could’ve known.” Maybe that’s why I don’t have a TV show or a movie deal. Or a staff medic standing over me saying, “I told you, ^%$#@&%! I TOLD you.”
