Well, Amber and Ambre to the rescue, right? Buddy’s bank account and Lee’s buzz are counting on things running smoothly.

And really, everyone wants a nice, quiet evening with friends all around, sitting comfortably and watching a nice floor show. Except Duke. He wants a fight to watch. And Big Ron. He wants a fight to …fight. And Ziggy, whom I believe (though I don’t know for sure) would like to get into a kiddie pool full of Jell-O with Amber and Ambre. Feel bad for Zig. He doesn’t have much of a home life, apparently. And you can feel conflicted for Amber and Ambre- they’re trying to run a business, bu-u-u-u-ut I don’t think they have a lot of background in running businesses. At least not businesses run out of a kiddie pool full of Jell-O in the floor of a backwood drinking house along the edge of a flooding lake.

Not a lot of people do.

Lost Track Of Things…

Hi, everyone!

Apologies that I haven’t updated here in a long, long time. Gonna try to do better. Fact is, I got out of the habit while I was swamped with real-world work for a bit, then when I finally got back to it, I was putting my effort into the Patreon page ’cause those folks were dropping in money on a monthly basis, and I feel guilty for being away from it for so long. Another thing that carried me away was, oddly, the Hubris ConCards game. If not for having created that, I don’t know if I wouldn’t have stuck with my original plan to end the strip at ten years or so and wrap up the story with a good, heart-felt tear-jerker ending that I’d been plotting (literally) for at least four years at that point.

But the story ran long, and when I created ConCards (based on The Great Stanky Creek Outdoorfest story arc, and using all the Hubriscomics characters), it seemed worthwhile, but only if I made sure that the source material was still ‘out there’ for it. So the ‘ending’ changed, and now we proceed.

Just to be a ‘good’ businessman- feel free to jump over to Patreon.com and do a quick search for Hubris and Greg Cravens. You’ll happen across me, and for a buck or two a month, you can catch up on a lot of cartoons that have been over there that aren’t here yet. And keep an eye open at Kickstarter if you want in on the ConCards thing before the rest of the world catches on.

One Nice Book.

Hey. A cartoonist friend of mine wrote and drew a book. It’s very autobiographical, not in the way that every book is somehow autobiographical, but specifically and sweetly about this one guy’s life and career in cartooning. The fact that he grew up, as many of us did, with one foot planted firmly in the pre-digital world and the other foot desperately seeking a firm place to set in the post digital one is only a little part of his tale, but one I associated with closely.

He’s doing all the sales and stuff on his own until a publisher picks it up, so put on your Old School hat and order you a book, if it looks like fun to you. I read the whole thing as soon as I got my copy, surprising myself when I arrived at the end and wondering where the time went. If you have a nice spot outdoors to sit and let the dog nap next to you while you read, I recommend that- it suits the material pretty good.
