I got really excited writing this bit. It was a single piece of narrative that needed working out in full before I could dive in.
It runs at the outside edge of what I think people are willing to put up with (I use GoComics.com as a measure of that kind of thing. Folks there are far more ready to complain than you guys here.) and if the story had run any longer, I might have ditched this whole bit and just sent everyone off to bed. As it is, I have a few cartoons in mind for the first night of the Fest that are now pushed back by a couple of weeks.
Exciting. Entertaining. Fun. At least to me. If you guys don’t enjoy it, don’t hesitate to say so. I enjoy your feedback, of course.
Lay it on us!
I’m having fun. Just don’t get TOO scary! 😉 Or I’ll tell you about the time I walked up to the barn at 1am to check on the critters and feed. No power, no lights, no phone. And my mellow gelding is being VERY aggressive about something a hundred feet up the hill in the trees. Dark. Cold. Quiet, except for an aggressive horse.
And a 500ft walk back to the house. Thru the trees, with a fading flashlight.
True story. Found the bed spot the next day. Yearling black bear.
reg, I’m liking this. But, people keep telling me that I’m an outlier. Or, I’m out lying. I forget.
reg -> Greg.
she didn’t even say “tan your hide” nor mention the “switch”
[chuckles] “’til that one day anyway…”
i had a favorite uncle who would tell tales like that. we’d ask him what happened, he’d get a look of ‘it’s best if you younguns didn’t know’ and say just that. would drop the subject like it was something today’s horror buffs would freak out over.
ah meee, those were the best stories. our little pea brains would roll around in terror like a hamster afraid of the spokes on its wheel. by the time it was time for bed, not a one of us wanted to go.
then one of the women folk would chew on him a bit for winding the lot of us up and try calling us back down at the same time.
i miss that old fart. i learned so much from him.
i mean besides how to wind little kids up Just to the point of wetting themselves, of course. though i do admit that was one of the best gifts he ever left to me. lol
I did a Google (yes that evil empire) search for wukilar, and guess what came up. Yes, a whole bunch of Hubris cartoons. That and the video clip of the wookalar scene with Don Knotts and Tim Conway.
Well now there you go. Greg is now about to pontificate with illustrations for posterity and lay down the definitive on EVERYTHING Wukilar!!!!! Go Greg Go!
Have been a professional storyteller (not the Moth kind. That scares me) and I love a well crafted tale. long is JUST fine! Oh, and I came here from GoComics and went back and started at the beginning. Also, there is another strip that takes a year or so to tell a story…Widdershins!
