Who’s gonna blame Bob? Hubris MIGHT be at the food trucks, and if he is, Bob MIGHT get a taco out of it.
Considering how Bob’s life tends to roll, he can probably count on a taco.

Nikki has earned herself a bit of time to wander around the ‘Fest, I guess. Nothing more to do in the store- might as well go and check in on 1) Mayhem, 2) Paste’s weird bunch, 3) Where Bob’s got to 4) the lunacy of the final games of the day…
Come to think of it, the store might have been better than the crazy mess.
Imagine having a job where you just think of insanely weird things to do and then put them on the internet to see what happens next.
Paste seems to think that’s his job. He’s probably right.
He thinks, “I bet a lot of people are taking video at the finish line. What if I were to ride past them naked? Would I get a lot of views? Let’s find out!” Aaaaand he lets people pass him in the race while he ditches his britches. The race standings? Bah! How many people are gonna click on a video of a filthy guy running through the finish line? A thousand? Three thousand? Fine. How many are going to click on, view, re-view, and then re-post a video of a little lunatic pedaling bare in a crowd of startled racers? Hmmm. Not good enough. Better do a war cry, pedal no-handed, and make either gang signs, rude gestures, or a self-deprecating hand sign while being video’d. Yeah. Better.
Too bad the Sharpie Tattoos wore off a while back.
Paste was never one for team sports, but who can blame him? Team sports weren’t made for the short kid with ego issues. Skateboards. Those are good for the short kid with ego issues… and parents who’d like him to entertain himself for a few hours while they got some work done.
Team sports require you to be good enough that you don’t irritate the kids who play all the dang time, while keeping an eye on a whole crowd of people who all want the same ball. If everyone had their own ball and own agenda, well, that’d be a different kinda game now, wouldn’t it? Who knew that team sports were some kinda euphemism for famine times? Everyone after the same ball? Pah! We live in modern, first-world countries! We can all afford our OWN balls!
Seems a shame to do all this planning and then have the people upon whom the whole thing hinges drop the ball. Don’t these grunts know how the management team feels about planning sessions?
See, that’s why you have to have lawyers write up all your rules- so nobody can understand them at all, and they’re all afraid of being disqualified over some bit of legal speak in the rule book.
Every so often, it’s good to have a character express his humanity- to take a moment to be vulnerable and be able to admit it.
If you know people like Paste, you know they only do that when they’re yanking your chain. The unexamined life might, according to old wisdom, not be worth living… but it can certainly have a place in the comics.
Well, We lost Stan Lee today. He was 95, and I’d had a conversation recently about whether anyone could expect him to live a lot longer or a little longer. Of course, variations on that conversation have happened for a decade now. It would have been really cool if he’d made it to 100, wouldn’t it?
He made a big, big figure in the world of comic books, that’s for sure. Even if we’d been lamenting his loss ten years ago, people would still be talking about what an amazing life he’d had. The fact that he added to his reputation and his place in the comics verse all the way up to his last days is astounding.
Salute!
What does Mal sound like in your head? In mine, he’s got a very nasal, unusually deep voice for someone his size. Until he’s upset and on the phone, when his voice takes on a hysterical, hectoring, high pitch.
If you like to invent games of the sort that people seem to like these days- objective card games where the rules seem more implied than enforced- maybe you’d like to invent one called ‘wolves and weasels’. It seems to be the sort of thing that could go over pretty well. Maybe include an exploding kitten or some cards that seem to be against humanity.
