Kara said she needed to talk to somebody. I guess she was just being methodical deciding who it was she’d talk to?
What’s nice, of course, is that the last person she decided to talk to is an expert in such things, and had wine. It would have been difficult on Kara to have to circle back to someone else as the best choice.
Or start talking to utter strangers, hoping that they had wine. THOSE conversations get weird.
Even the best helmet gives you hat hair that’d make a troll doll sorry for your coiffure issues.
But a straw bale is never the answer. That guy’s gonna come outta there looking like he’s got a finger in a light socket.
Is it just me, or does everyone in the comic strip today have personal and/or professional issues?
Granted, people without issues rarely get to be in comic strips, but … dang!
Dr. LeChamp is back! She’s your second favorite French Canadian, and very favorite TV wannabe, right?
Everyone admires her for her flying tackles.
See, this is how two adults deal with their difference. They both know that the one guy screwed up to the cost of the whole team, and that the other guy needs to say it aloud. Bam, there you go. No need for screaming, hysterical repeating yourself, and savage recriminations, much less threats and proclamations. This ain’t a detective TV show.
Of course, both men will bottle this experience up, live with it and age prematurely, eventually dying young and with overheated livers, but at least neither one of them would go to their graves with the shame of having had a screaming hissy fit.
I was wearing a red shirt once while helping another dog owner to socialize her rescued dog, when said dog bit me on the arm.
To the dog’s credit, he immediately realized he’d caused a problem, and calmed down. To my discredit, I was standing exactly where people tell you not to stand when socializing dogs (between two dogs is where you don’t stand.)
The upshot of which is that I didn’t have to throw the shirt away, even after a few hours of visiting the doctor’s office to get a few stitches in my arm. It was red already, and the blood, even when dried, didn’t make much difference.
But if I’d been painted all red, well, there’d have been an issue.
According to Douglas Adams in ‘Last Chance To See’, it isn’t an author’s job to prop up stereotypes.
Of course, he pointed this out because he and his little group of English gorilla-watchers were being outclassed by German super-efficient, über-confident gorilla-watchers. He pointed out that it wasn’t his job to make them off-handedly arrogant and proficient just because they were German. So he decided that for the sake of the rest of the book, they’d be Latvian.
Maybe Erich isn’t smugly confident (how many people in this comic are smugly confident? Most of them?) and maybe he isn’t German.
Not my job to prop up stereotypes.
Now, about Mr. Biner…
For anyone who doesn’t recall why Dr. LeChamp dresses so ridiculously… In the first Stanky Creek Outdoorfest, Dr. Biner refused to be the Fest Doctor. And so, it was up to Dusty Trayles to come up with a medico for the fest. Aaaaand she hired a TV doctor. Not an actor that plays a doctor, though now that I think of it, that might have been funny. No, she hired a doctor fit for TV… in the opinion of old program directors who still call cheesecake models ‘dolls’ and hire them without hearing them read lines.
And it’s the Return Of Scoffy!
