Oooooh, busy busy this week.
Local comic con followed by the convention of ISCA- the International Society of Caricature Artists.
Quite the party. I’m exhausted. And behind on deadlines.

At first, I couldn’t think of what I’d like to put on the site for the Fourth Anniversary.
There’s no tradition to pull from, as I utterly forgot the anniversary every time before this.
So I settled, after scrolling through some photos I keep “For putting on the website someday”, on some shots of the tables I’ve displayed Hubris stuff (and other silliness)on since starting this experiment.
Here you go:
Table on Pro Row at MidSouthCon a while back
Oddly slapped together table for the Broad Street Art Walk. My wife’s photography did pretty good. And Hubris hats sold better than I’d thought. Caricatures were the big draw, though.
The big expensive set up I decided on after attending Cons and thinking “What would I REALLY like to have?”
So there you go. The evolution of the Hubris Public Awareness Campaign Thus Far. I’ve already had a few requests from you guys to attend Cons in your area. I’d love to. Often, though, transportation is going to be the bugaboo. Salt Lake City is one I’d like to do, but driving all this stuff out there is looking iffy, and flying/shipping is pricey. Maybe I need to finish up the new Hubris books and do a Kickstarter just for Con Appearances. Shall I bring the unicycle, do you think?
Last year, I worked the SouthEast Chapter of the National Cartoonist Society’s table at HerosCon in Charlotte NC. That was fun, but what I really wanted was to scope things out and see if I might not put the effort into turning Hubris into more of a full-time occupation.
Setting up a Hubris table at OutdoorFests and Comics Cons would be great. I still don’t know if I can do it, what with other projects that constantly crop up- it’s hard to plan ahead.
Like this weekend. I bought table space at MIDSOUTHCON. I figured it’s here in town and it’ll be fun and easy to dip a toe in the water. Alas, I picked up a freelance job with nightmarish deadlines.
So, I’m at MidSouthCon for the panels and demonstrations that they asked me to sit in on, and that’s great. And I’ll man my table for a few hours today.
So come on by, if you’re in the West Tennessee area, willya? It’s lots of fun, and the dealer room is intriguing as always (Goggles, anyone? Swords?) And there’s ALWAYS the costumes. Come see those. I’ll try to take some photos for you today.
Hey. I’ve been remiss in updating on non-cartoon days lately. Sorry about that. Been busy. Twisted my ankle at the skatepark. Wife was in a car wreck. Kids homework… let’s see… what else? Oh yeah! Kenosha! I’m frantically trying to get things ready for Kenosha. That’s what kicked off the Hubris book (HERE) and I had a proposal in for a Buckets book, too, but they’re not going for it at the moment. There’s no time to get it done for Kenosha, but I bet I can have a Buckets book ready for everyone for Christmas gifts.
Anyhow, I bought a new laptop, so I can confidently go ’round and show off stuff at Kenosha, and next year- Comics Conventions! Heyaaaah! Do you go to comics conventions? Do you want to see me there and buy a book or an original comic strip or a sketch? I’m in the market for some Cons! Let me know which one(s) you go to and I’ll do my best to be there!
Just for funsies, here’s a couple of cartoons you can also see (HERE) at MoreOnTV!
