Really- is the peanut and shellfish thing something the milk is exposed to or something the cow is exposed to?
I mean, if there’s scallop-fed beef to be had, I need a few pounds and some good butter.

Cows eat peanut hay. Cow udders are often treated with iodine to sterilize them before milking. Iodine is derived from shellfish.
Random Guy has it exactly.
And with people sensitive to stuff to the point it can kill them, it has to be disclosed. Some peanut allergy sufferers just have to see the stuff to react. Some celiacs (wheat/gluten) can react 24 hours after if someone opens a bag of flour in a room and reseals it. Just that little. Know that the words ‘processed in a facility that also processes wheat’ can be ugly for the one that’s sensitive. (some pediatricians are advocating feeding infants peanut butter at six months, introducing it to the diet very early so their immune system may learn it’s not an allergen….). For me if the milk was produced on a farm that grows wheat, that would be enough to get me. (milk/casein/whey/cheese/butter etc can cause a reaction in a celiac so that stuff is out. And I’m sorry, almond milk is the nastiest nutmilk, I know more people that it makes them ill. Try cashew… and beware, Silk decided to put almond in it… make your own!)
So this one is very appropriate. Rather than be sued, list the possible allergens for the consumer to make up their own mind. Yep.
Worked on a cattle farm for a while. I don’t like the milk-like-substance they sell at the stores anymore. Even thought they call it ‘Whole Milk’ about 30% of the solids and fat have been removed.
I sure won’t milk the same way again…
Bought a can of those pencil eraser sized shrimp once. It had an allergy warning that it might contain shellfish.
All for allergy warnings but if you are buying a can of shrimp you should already be aware of the contents.
Some people will stare right at you, eat the shellfish even though they have a nasty allergy then protest they didn’t know it was shellfish….
I prefer almond liquid. It’s not milk…have you ever seen a tit on an almond? Neither have I!!!
BTW when you pour your liquid of choice on cereal…it becomes a salad. Or a soup. Depending on who you ask.
What do you call the stuff that comes out of a coconut? Thats what the marketing people asked the FDA when they were arguing if it could be labled as ‘milk’.
I knowledge is power.
I’d have just went with the ignorant, I hope it wasn’t a bull joke.
