So let’s see who gets this one… because there are others. What I mean is that there are two other versions of this very cartoon that have word balloons.
How subtle do you like your cartooning? Can you do this one without any extra clutter? Would you rather have the efficiency of a word balloon?
Comment, and then I think I’ll show the other two versions.
I think you’ve had too much sun. 🙂 This is good enough. Honestly, it’s good enough.
honestly, i get it… sort of. but i had to look at the tags to understand it.
i know the “spice”. i use it regularly and in its many flavors.
but i didn’t know who the human was.
i knew it was from a movie from disney &/or pixar and a speedy type, obviously… but beyond that… [shrugs]
The characters name is Dash from the movie The Incredibles.
Dash and Flash? Man & Spice? Who is the little guy exactly? What superhero starts with “i” Info man?
The Incredibles
*face palm*
Troy deserves death. LMAO
Wow, they lowered the age limit for marriage.
Actually, since the early 1900’s they’ve RAISED the age limit for marriage.
In the 1800’s and earlier, it wasn’t uncommon for a couple to be in their mid-teens. After all, they’d most likely die by 30.
Some of those that went west on the Oregon Trail to homestead, were 12 and 13 years old. There were many ways to swear you were over 21 properly (truthfully, sort of) and collect 160 acres per person, then another 160 acres each for a ‘tree claim’. In wooded areas this meant clearing 10 acres first, but. Plant 10 acres of trees to make it a tree claim. In the 1960’s an episode of ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ two couples in their 60’s, it was brought forth that both women were 12 when they got married…
Took me a little while as I have avoided The Incredibles for years. Of course, the spice is not Mrs. Dash until the ceremony is concluded.
I am a great fan of wordless cartoons. Especially Speechless by Len Borozinski on GoComics. It is fun working out the details and hidden Easter Eggs each day. Not to mention hi wonderful art including days where he demonstrates how he turns photos of animals into cartoons.
It’s good. Not Pearls Before Swine good, but good. But Stephan is a master of the pun.
Explanation. The Incredibles, there was Mr. Incredible, Elastic Girl (they married) and Violet, the daughter, Dash (who was like a really fast runner) the middle son, and Jake-Jake the toddler little son. Their new costumes made by Edda Mode, were the red like that with eye masks and the I on the chest. (no capes!)
Close.
Elastigirl, then renamed “Mrs. Incredible” because DC Comics already owned the name “Elasti-Girl”.) The baby was “Jack-Jack”, and their costume designer was Edna Mode.
Excuse a bad night and 3 hours of sleep in 36. I tried.
The wordless version works better. It gives the eye a little more opportunity to go through the panel to figure out the joke. But, Dash’s grin is a bit creepy, giving the impression that he’s not going to be gentle on the missus tonight.
