This is a very nice, understanding man. Buy him some donuts, and make the bandages a free donation. You want him working the park the next time you come back.
Owie. Glad they made a convert…. How the City’s Finest is going to explain his trashed uniform and dermal surface on his shift report ought to be a good one.
We can only hope it falls under Workers Comp.
BTW as I said yesterday, I suggest we get Greg on a Mon-Thur or Tue-Fri comic rotation, so he can have (snicker) a 3 day weekend.
Those are good options. The ‘three day weekend’ usually has more to do with how late I’m up the night before an update is due. For instance, Friday’s update isn’t in color yet. I have many plans to have it colored and loaded up update long before Thursday night. Those plans will inevitably fall through, and I’ll be up late on Thursday suddenly saying something to the effect of “Nuts! I forgot!!”
Ah, I was hoping someone would catch it. The pintail board is the one Kara was holding in previous cartoons. The arrow shaped board with cutouts (the one that was destroyed) was the one Hubris was riding. Hubris was, in a Meta sense, holding Kara’s board while she worked on Officer Pettigrew. Hubris was, in a pen and ink sense, holding the board in the first panel to help with the misdirection of time so that the second panel would work as a punchline.
That’s very subtle. Even knowing the explanation, it took me a couple of minutes comparing today’s strip and yesterday’s to see what you’re talking about. The effect did work, in that I could tell that time had passed, but I wasn’t seeing much difference between the two board designs (since I don’t skateboard). What I did notice right away, and it’s a touch I really like, is Hubris and the cop switching headgear.
I did notice that Hubris was riding a yellow accented board and Kara had orange; so when Hubris was standing with an orange one, I figured he had Kara’s. I caught the headgear switch and I assumed that Hubris sat one out as he would NOT be so (Paste-like) clueless as to do something without helmet with a member of the force there. The hat to helmet swap seemed logical, but first panel looked like BEFORE not as second panel shows, after. Good misdirection, Greg.
Well, it’s not every time that I’m on top of things like keeping the settings and props properly arranged, either. You guys remember the shoe I forgot to leave off Paste in a recent cartoon. It’s always something.

And as a customer.

He’s doing park duty. This should fall under worker’s comp.

Kara looks pissed about her board
I think she’s just focused on her work. Hubris can gift her a new board and write it off his taxes as a business expense.

I’m ADHD … so it’s ONLY after I’ve read the comments from you and TSOJ and Greg, that I get it totally. (though I DID get the headgear change.)

We learn by SURVIVING our mistakes…
…& paying attention, to figure-out WHY it was a mistake.
