I don’t know if you realized… these two don’t have any other competitors around them. There are a few different reasons that could be.
They’re way out ahead and the others haven’t caught up yet.
They’re way out behind and the others have left them.

I choose to believe that they’re wayyyyy out ahead. Otherwise, they’re killing themselves just for the fun of it. And I’m not sure they’re having fun at the moment. 🙂

I remember reading the old story of the writer at Mad who wrote a gag where he mentioned a cowboy looked at the top of a cliff and saw hundreds of Cherokee warriors. Don Martin crossed through that number and wrote three. When the writer asked why he did that Martin responded it was easy to write hundreds but it was not easy to draw them.
There are other bits of the event, Greg could wing by a few of those and give a short reprieve from drawing bikes… 🙂 Just gotta think nonlinear again….

There just was a freak hail storm in the middle of the Criterium du Dauphine in France. Images of the rider’s backs are wince-inducing. But did the bikers take cover until it was over? No

Run the race and see. I did a Spartan type race. The rule was you had to cross the fire line finish “unaided”. I helped this young girl who literally shaking she was so exhausted. I shouted across the line to some who had already finished to catch her. Grabbing her arm and leg I spun around toss her over the flaming finish line. They denied her finishing and tried to disqualify me for assisting her. We argued she did cross the line “by herself”. I didn’t touch her as she crossed the line by holding or carrying. I threw her.
After a lengthy heated discussion with calls to organizers we were allowed the victory of finishing the event. She crossed the finish line “unaided”. The aid was before the line! So carry on competitors!!

They probably are down the wrong creek, and will show up at the lake more than a bit away from where they are supposed to meet their canoe. The Eurosphortzen batch didn’t schedule a bicyclist so they are forced to go over there and snag one or both of these to get to return…. heh.
