Sorry this took so long to post, but I mean, REALLY! I had three or four problems for the story arc, and they all got solved if only I could write a good Wukilar song. Yes, I know the spelling isn’t what you’ve seen before, assuming you’ve ever seen it before. This is me not caring. I like spellin’ it Wukilar for a couple of reasons, so there. Now, next time you go camping, you’ve got a new campfire song to annoy everyone with, and you can likewise spread the legend of the Wukilar!

Glad you included a link to “Private Eyes”, my introduction to the Wookalar (spelling optional). Filmed at the Biltmore Estate, my brother was actually on the electrical crew, and a friend was night clerk at the hotel (The Grove Park Inn) where Tim Conway and Don Knotts were staying during production. This film has a great sense of nostalgia for me–even though I wasn’t actually involved I was asked (informally) if I’d be interested in helping out with the art department. I can’t recall exactly why it didn’t work out…I think it may have been that my brother (who’d asked) thought I was handing him a line of bull about my experience (none) and thought better of recommending me to his boss. Anyway, still crack up every time I hear Tim Conway say “Wookalar”. So picked up immediately what you were doing with your Wukilar Song.
You know, someone who is an both an accomplished cartoonist and accomplished musician might actually consider recording the Wukilar song… and supplying this here website with a file that could be played by the adoring masses. You let me know if you can think of anyone like that, Doodle.
Cool! Man, Tim Conway was funny! I actually prefer the drawl that Don Knotts gives the word in this clip. The difference in the two actors’ emphasis on the word is hilarious in it’s own right. My brother reminded me of the Wukilar in one of his blogs, and I’ve been saving up the chance to introduce it to Hubris. I snicker to think of it. WUKILAR!
I’m interested in mythical animals and the folklore that supports them. You’d be amazed at how much weirdness just in New Jersey!
Tim Conway & Don Knotts worked well off of each others comedy personas. I don’t think I saw this movie or it was so long ago I don’t remember. A mythical version of the “Snipe” is used in the USA for newbie hunters or campers to find out about and or hunt for.
