The corporate code is good for ratings.
I remember listening to an interview with a television producer who had several shows during the 70’s. He told the story of going to a meeting with executives of one of the big three with a writer. The writer asked him what type of shows the network preferred. His response was “Hits”.
That is the television code in it’s most concise form.

Awww… I came down to the comments to see what the answer was. I suck at guessing games having to do with pop culture. Cripes, I’m not even Sure it’s From pop culture… I just figure that’s generally where stuff comes from. I mean besides a cabbage patch, the stork and the Easter Bunny. Oh and possibly Santa.
