Ask anyone with a profession that falls outside of an MBA’s purview… A brand new MBA will automatically assume that he (or she) can not only advise you the best way to do your job, but probably do it better than you if only he (or she) had the time. Doing advertising cartoons puts you in these people’s path quite a bit. Older clients are fine. They know where they shine, and they know they want good work done. They hire you and you do your thing and everyone gets paid. Brand New MBAs on their first couple of big projects? Nightmare of micro-managing bluster.
Ooh, out for a little literary revenge, eh? Now I see where this is going!
Nah, you know me- I’m perfectly willing to let folks be enthusiastic and self-confident in their youth. Me? I’m all for a little hubris. But you gotta be willing to laugh at it, too, right?
What? Laugh at a comic strip? I take my comics seriously! 😉
Well, it is somewhat a matter of education vs. experience, now isn’t it?
The young MBA doesn’t have your experience, but in grad school he probably learned at least a trick or two that you wouldn’t be able to learn in just a single life-time of experience.
That doesn’t mean he can do your job better than you, but it’d be a shame just to dismiss his advice out-of-hand.

(also, webcomic producer, teacher, freelance writer, artist, blah blah…)
MBA is not a designation behind your name. They should teach that in Business School.
It is pretentious to sign MBA behind your name. Duh.
That’s the only time I’ve put it in my signature (the only time I think I’ve signed a comment, too), and it was only to point out my credential for the sake of argument.
Old military saying: There’s nothing more dangerous than a newly commissioned 2LT with a compass. Ask any seasoned non-com who’s had to pull his/her new officer out of the fire….
