All she has to do is quit for the weekend. Hubris can get a temp for a few days.
Then the temp can get sent off (probably needing to take up drinking) with a good recommendation and Hubris can rehire Nikki. Simple.
It would be a lot more fun if she approached SportsMart and got on as their second. Some race car sponsors often have a few cars and drivers in the stable they are sponsoring, a TEAM. Nikki could be on the same team as Paste. Interesting. With Paste’s crush on her, his skills go from hero to zero… hehehe.

MIGHT AS WELL MAKE A “TEAM HUBRIS” at this point and make the ‘SNAKE’ his dad happy by letting Paste in too.
No, Kara will physically kill Hubris if he tries to prevent her from competing again this time. He’s not “letting” her compete, he has no choice, and she will willingly break up with him if it comes down to that. Besides, Hubris himself can’t compete because he has to oversee the operations that no one else will, plus run the store table. For him, this is a business operation, not a sports event.
What would rankle Me about all this nonsense of people quitting and what all is that these are the weinies that Wanted this mess in the first place. But the lazy snots aren’t willing to put in any of the Real work to put it on?!?
What would they do if Hubris decided, “You know what… I wanna compete too. I quit. You find somebody to put the thing on. I’m gonna be like you guys and ditch being decent.”
He really Should do that. If he can’t learn to say no, he should at least learn to be more of a jerk. If not to give them a taste of their own medicine, than to actually have some of the fun they’re stealing from him.

Ummm, you do understand that everyone else wants the second fest precisely because they want to compete in it, right? The POINT is to be IN the fest, not outside of it. And as for being “lazy,” everyone else will break their backs to get the fest up and running, UP TO when the starting gun goes off. They just don’t want to be watching the competitors having all the fun. Besides, Nikki is the only one really caught in the middle here. Hubris never planned on Paste helping, Kelly will be running camera, and Durnell will be emceeing. That just leaves Kara, and she’s not store staff.
“If you quit, I won’t hire you back later.” Let’s see how she takes that.
