Don is the most clueless reporter, as all the action goes on behind him. He’s the ‘spud’ not the Officer. Spade reminds me of the ‘guy’ being ‘interviewed’ on the song “The Streak”…. (the amount of true info and cluelessness)
so not only he doesn’t see the “benny hill wannabee show” happening behind him. but he ALSO doesn’t let the poor guy really answer…
oh boy that guy would on my “S…list” i swear hehe
Thank you, Don McTaggert! But, as Durnell said yesterday, “That don’t really tell me what’s happened.” I gotta agree with Karmakat that an accompaniment of “Yakkety Sax” would be very appropriate for this newscast.
In due course, someone (obviously not Don McTaggert — oy) will likely tell Durnell The Rest of the Story. However, assuming that someone manages to deliver even a reasonably accurate account, it doesn’t necessarily follow that we’ll be able to figure out what’s really happen’d, let alone make any sense of the mishegas. Since this is the Hubriverse, always remember…
Like Hubris, one may rightfully ask if this is making less sense as we go. Not that I mean for it to sound like a bad thing. A huge part of the fun is watching how bonkers it can all become, yet still remain believable.
I hate to rain on the parade, but there is a Hanna-Belle Lechter, one of the roller derby queens that showed up at Kara’s clinic with two others that had ended up in mishap at the derby…. I just remembered that in the wee hours of this morning… hm. Cthula is her aunt?
Darnit! I plagiarized MYSELF? Hmm. Well, in that case… YES. Cthula is somehow connected. I shall let ya know. Gonna have to think about that one for a bit.
I had been thinking that I had heard it before, but couldn’t remember where or when. And whaddaya know, it turns out to be — from this very strip! I’ve been rereading Hubris from the beginning over the past few days, so I would have eventually run into the roller derby queen scene, but thanks for solving the mystery for me in advance.

Is this a case of the police playing hacky sack? They’re allowed to do that during working hours?

I’m sure the camera woman is sighing to herself.

It would be a hoot to see Benny passing through. I can imagine him pausing to give his Fred Scuttle salute to the camera for good measure.
glad you agree with me )
Greg, once again you have caused me to start my workday with a grin!
I really like the background action. Reminds me of the old Mad magazine. The early years were the best, of course.

Seeing is believing…not understanding

I am mucho impressed by how spry Cthula is.

Have a really bad impression to that name? Maybe a bad first date in your misspent youth?
Somebody’s gotta keep you on the straight-N-narrow, Greg. Just so you can go off on the tangents you do…. heh.

I was thinking of the Keystone Kops, but Benny Hill works too.
sincerely that would be the CHERRY, SPRINKLES AND WHIPPED CREAM ON TOP hehe
