Your eyes aren’t playing tricks- you’re getting to see the paddlers’ blindfolds! Close up!
We can see that no one’s cheating so far, anyhow.

Well, I started on the unicycle, so if I made it to the canoe point, I may be the Team USer with the shy bladder.
It is getting less shy by the moment!
“my blindfold is sorta tight” sounds like me. The cloth masks I bought hurt my nose. Press it down, and make it difficult to sneeze.
If you have genuine N95, trim out so the under your eyes doesn’t get near-fatally-stabbed/ If you bought the side pleated fabric cheapos, those fog up your safety glasses and cut the top of your ears. If you get tie on ones or top band then bottom band across back of head, those are better, and the sort of double hatchet ones with a peak running from nose to chin, best to get those type as a behind head all away across or tie on, the ear onlies will eat your ears off. If they have a nose bend tab, put a pencil in the top center then squeeze it over, then try that on your nose for fitting. Less sharp and less likely to eat the top of your nose.
There were ones we had for grain, sort of rectangular, had behind head upper and lower bands, and some cutouts of a very thin metal piece and held a sort of multilayer gauze piece to your face. Worked very well with solid grain dust, wish I could get ahold of some now (haven’t worn one for 4 decades so don’t know if they exist any more)
Good thing the guides could tell the directions. Tapping them on the back of the paddlers neck in morse code would likely have been difficult.
Well that at least negates the Pirate Team from firing accurately.
They were rum shots anyway.
At one time in my life it was a pretty certain I was going to go blind. I didn’t, decided not to sue, and I still have a few skills. If I was in the blindfold it would HAVE to be my person telling me what to do… if I was guiding I am very used to standing behind something and giving the messed up commands that you have when backing a trailer and telling driver how to correct… but this is a canoe. oops.
Just had a wilder thought. If Them Duke Boys lost their cyclist, does that mean they are then disqualified from finishing, OR will one of them have to finish the bike race? IF they didn’t lose the bike….
Ooh, now I’m a bit stressed. Please tell me you’re sending a rescue boat for the missing Duke boy!
They all had to have floatation ON so after the flotilla gets past there are probably safety kayaks to fish them out/tow them to shore.
