If anyone is thinking it- I don’t think alcoholism is a laughing matter. And I’ll address that. But there wasn’t room for it today. Not a laughing matter. We get that. It’s cool.

Nope. Nothing wrong with an adult beverage in the right time and place, but too often and too many and too much and too long, isn’t cool. We always had adult beverages around and most everyone was moderation. I can vouch for a breakfast beer is sometimes better than a morning coffee, but. It’s not a laughing matter.
Guinness — It’s not just for breakfast any more. ™
How times have changed. Partly due to the WCTU (and other abstinence organizations), partly due to the fear that the calories in those dark beers make you fat, partly due to a lot of other things.
But “everyone knows” a strong man needs a stout or a porter for breakfast (and several more through the day) to keep his strength up. (Of course, a couple of good meals of fresh bread and cheese, or better yet meat, wouldn’t hurt, but he can’t afford that on what he makes, so he has to settle for second best: a few stale crusts and a draft of porter.)
nope hubris should relize he is so use to having his breakfast beers for so long he is blind to see that it might be a problem of dabbling with the spirits that is booze
Ah… nothing like a breakfast beer on your birthday, or if you are going to be flying.
uh, hey folks … I uh … I hate to do this, but I’ve run in to uber tough times.
With rent and other things, the money the government is giving me, just doesn’t cover all my needs, and, I’m not able to get a job (i.e. certain people are preventing it in a legal way. Which is a long story.)
If you can help … I’d much appreciate it … GoFundMe.com/IamAllan is the site. ANY amount is helpful – the amount listed, is a year amount.
(if you want to know … rent is around $350/mth, cellphone is around $50/mth, storage (for stuff I can’t fit in the rental space) is $70, bus pass is $144 for a total of … $614. I get a measly $656 from the government. THAT MEANS … I have a total of $42 for groceries, cable (I don’t have internet, so this is my entertainment), and hygiene stuff. I have spent maybe $300 in 18 months on new clothes … I need help.
I feel cheap asking you – but I think of most of you as friends, and hope you can help.
Thanks, and God Bless!
I understand when life isn’t fair and you’re too broke to make it. I’m afraid that I can’t and won’t be able to help. Have you tried any of these:

I have been under-the-bridge. Places like these have helped me in the past with food, clothes, and a lot more. To thank them, when I was ‘on a better path’ I have donated items, my time, and more. I gratefully accepted help and turned over every stone when needed, and when I was able to get off that level of living, I was thankful (been there twice). It sounds like you qualify, Allan. Good luck.
