Do we have to sing a song about Bob’s retail prowess? Like for Paste?

Writer: “And it DOES automatically give me ‘I’m at the end of my rope’ gags to work with…”

My first thought was “Bob lets someone in the store who’s smoking?”
The writer can write about his trek up the mountain; how exhausting it was and how many times he had to stop and catch his breath and have a smoke on the trail.

… Hey Greg… Is the writer supposed to be anybody? I mean like specific?
Because he sure reminds me of somebody I’ve read but for the life of me, I can’t Quite put a finger on who. I’m actually serious. Or maybe an actor… I guess he Kind of reminds me of Ed Asner when he was a lot younger (though Mr. Asner always smoked a cigar I think…) but…
[shakes head] I don’t know. That’s gonna bug me now. Mergles. [le sigh]

Perhaps Cravens was inspired by George Plimpton, who would undertake new activities and write books about them. Except Plimpton looked nothing like Glasses Dude. If you could distill Connecticut, it might look, sound and write like George Plimpton.
