Oh gods above, that is excellent! Proof that he’s an Aussie. “No worries mate” is our motto, you hear it everywhere over here, and I heard it not ONCE in the U.S….. People need to worry less, and Bob is out there to tell them so.
Here’s a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don’t worry, be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don’t worry, be happy
I just take three little yellow pills a day. Now. Again. Mellow is my middle name, I almost purr. Except when I forgot a mouse trap was there Wed night and nailed three toes on my left foot. My Skype blather friends never heard me swear so fluidly, succinctly or suddenly before. My limp of shame included a gimp to bathroom to wash peanutbutter off my toes then white tape wrap them. Just minorly mutilated but -40 to ego and dignity AND mellow….
Oh, man. I think I need a dose of Bob’s relaxed demeanor. Fell with my bike Thursday and fractured a hip. Falling I have done a lot. Breaking a bone – first time. Three titanium pins and a day and half later I am back home. Any advice for these first few ache-y days?
Firstly, don’t blame yourself, injuries happen. Next, don’t overdo it on the painkillers: I have “experimented” enough times with broken bones to know that they slow my healing process right down, for some reason. Keep off it, take advantage of people who say “Can I help?” because it honestly is worth it, and if you say thankyou, they’ll help you again. Last of all: I recommend a cat. For some reason they come and sit on me and purr when I’ve broken something, and make it all feel so much better.
Thanks. Just getting your response makes me feel better.
I have been taking acetaminophen only at bedtime, because lying there trying to fall asleep is when I feel it the most. A cat? Really? I have always thought of them as being completely indifferent to humans. Interesting. Thanks, again!
With the cat, well, I’d assume it was just that I was warm and unable to get up and move around (splintered ankle) but even an arm injury means that I get a cat cuddling and purring (fractured arm, or fractured fingers) and it doesn’t even have to be my cat: I went visiting and found the same effect. From cats who ignore me when I’m not injured. Strange. But definitely comforting.
F’ing brilliant. I want to hire Bob as front phone for something I have coming up soon!
Hubris so learned from the Stanky Creek, didn’t he….

Bob deserves a bonus for the cannon fodder thing.
Hubris should give him an extra serving of lobster and two additional boxes of paint balls.
Waiting for Bob to slip, and continue with, “… be happy.”

No worries, mate.
I agree, sleep is the worst with bone injuries.
