At some point, I’m gonna hafta go rafting…
Is there nice rafting in Japan?
I’ll have to check on that. Japan does have a mountainous spine region called the “Japanese alps”, which includes Nagano, the city where they held the 1998 winter Olympics. It gets a lot of snow and supports several ski resorts, and the melt-off has to go into the rivers at some point. There may be good rafting there, but I haven’t seen any advertising for it yet.
Tone river is nice I hear, and it’s in Gunma province, that’s where the Initial D anime is set in.
Gunma prefecture, not province. Sigh.
Gunma’s a bit north of me (couple hundred miles north of Tokyo, for that matter). It’d have to be some really good whitewater to justify the air ticket.
