So, Reader Zaphod steered me toward this.
I have to have one before they’re discontinued, like Lawn Darts. I can see way too many ways to hurt oneself on this, and I intend to try a few of them.
Let’s get to the important questions. What’s the weight limit? I may have to drop a few pounds. Can extra battery be added, because I’m thinking I won’t be done by the time the battery dwindles. A good Marine Battery. Will that fit in there somewhere?
weight: 55 lbs
batteries: Two rechargeable 12V, expected charge life: 40 minutes
weight limit: 140 lbs
Price: $400 from Toys “R” Us
Maybe we can rig two of them side-by-side to address the battery and weight limit problems…
Maybe we can start a letter writing campaign and get them to make an upsize version. You know, for big kids.
It’s the lazertag stuff all over. Worlds of Wonder was aiming their expensive stuff at the 8-13 crowd and it was us big kids that could afford the stuff AFTER it went to liquidation at ToysRus…
This looks like another one of those things, except for the weight limit. If I go on water and water for several months I do have a chance of getting my keyster under that weight limit. I do feel for you, Greg, I doubt you can manage that. Dang. Maybe you need to start building ones for bigger kids?
The video shows what’s probably the kid’s father in the second cart. I doubt he’s under 140 pounds, so maybe the specs can be sluffed by 20 to 40 pounds, but that may drop the battery charge by 5 to 10 minutes.
Lemme do the math, here. I currently weigh… uh huh… carry the one… battery life… percentage… hmm… yep. Okay! Battery life is approximately 43.678 seconds for me, assuming there’s a frame under that plastic that’s made out of something sturdy.
Bet you could take a cracked kayak, cut a square hole in the bottom, fit the kayak over the cart frame, epoxy it in place, and get Hubris’ “Next Big Thing”…
That’d definitely be worth a video.
That guy’s littler than you think, but. I’d say maybe 20# over is what I’d dare….
Awww Shweet!
Good job Zaphod!
