Hubris- Attached At The Crazybone

You can’t try to out-crazy some folks.  “Crazy” isn’t a thing that some people have chosen to work at- Crazy runs deep and can’t be pretended at.

In other words, a guy wearing armor made of craft foam sheets and pop rivets is not going to out-crazy somebody who actually believes he is wearing neutron armor forged from space diamonds and zambolian cumquat seed poison spikes, but who is actually wearing newspapers and twine.   The craft-foam armor guy isn’t going to out-crazy anyone from Team US, neither.  It’s a casual, off-the-cuff crazy that doesn’t usually involve space armor, but it’s effective.

Hubris- Up Periscope!

Mascot costumes limit your senses.

The very few times I’ve worn such things (I’ve only ever built one costume) I couldn’t see, and I couldn’t use my hands to do much more than wave or make rude gestures… much less take the mask off myself.  A nice periscope system in there would have been a nice thing.  And a fan.

I’ve known two professional mascots and a few amateurs who’re good at it.  They don’t seem to have many problems with the costumes… firing T-Shirt cannons and jumping off mini-trampolines to do backflips while slam-dunking basketballs…

… come to think of it like that, it was probably just me and my lousy costume design that caused the issues I’m making fun of in today’s cartoon.

Okay… There’s finally a ‘Team US’ shirt available in the Outdoor Galore Store.  I think Paste and a couple of his buddies have ‘autographed’ the front for you.  And put a band-aid on there.  The back looks nice, though.  Maybe wear it backwards.  Click the picture.  That’ll get you there.

The title sounds like an old Pogo comic, and the dialogue sounds like an old B.C. comic.

I must be old or something.

Y’know, because I know that Pogo and B.C. were comic strips.

The fact that I know the tone of the writing in both of them is because I’m a professional, dang it.

Hubris- The Rule Of Three

So, if you see a face in the crowd that you think doesn’t look like you, but looks like it should look like you… just assume it’s you.  I’m not taking an hour per face to make sure everyone looks like their photo.  The photos might not look like the way you think you look, either, so relax and just show everyone “Hey, This is me in this cartoon!”  They won’t believe you, but you know better.

Hubris- Book’s done.

Well… The whole book’s not completely done, but all the cartoons in it are drawn.  Most of them are colored and placed.  Hopefully, today’s the day when I start trying to upload the book to the printer/publisher whatever you call ’em these days.  There’s only four comics and a handful of spot illustrations that I haven’t posted here on the site.  I guess those’ll be exclusive to the book, and Patreon supporters.
