David’s in a tough spot. He’s fronting this out-of-the-ordinary project for his investment group, and trying to build up his son’s professional career, and leveraging these two corporate movers to manage a new business he’s just bought into… not long after discovering that it exists.
So, it’s hard to look askance at him if he’s suddenly realized that making a profit was also part of the equation.
I’ve never been one for Feng Shui myownself.
I live happiest in my studio and it looks like a landfill, so…
I’m not sure there are many retail places that fall into Bob’s aesthetic. And the ones that do are mostly in areas where there’s an astronomical range of disposable incomes. Rodeo drive retail. Fifth Avenue. Union Square. Anyplace in Dubai, I guess. Very few places that sell tent pegs and life jackets for dogs.
The local Bass Pro Shop has a swamp in it. There’s fish in the water, and Spanish moss and all. I think the trees are fiberglass, but that’s fine.
They used to have more boats on the water inside the store, so prospective boat buyers could actually stand on the floating boats and scope ’em out and all.
I heard the reason they don’t do that is that there are WAY more children than there are prospective boat buyers.
Sportsmart must have had a similar issue when setting up their amazing indoor forest. Lots more people looking for the bathrooms in a giant store than there are people who want to practice putting up a tent.
First off- My apologies! I haven’t been updating regularly due to insane schedules and my internet was wiped out by another damned limb taking out my cable/internet for days on end.
You do NOT want to hear about the conversation I had when the text updates went from “Your technician is on his way” to “Your appointment has been rescheduled to Friday at 7 pm”. I DID, however, discover how to get a human being on the phone from a certain cable company, and I’m sure he’s very tired of having to act contrite and apologetic to every furious person who calls, but he did his job well…enough.
But on a more entertaining note. Look! Paste is pissed!
That’s gonna lead to a storyline if I have anything to say about it.
The sun is up on a new day, and now it’s time that someone create order from the chaos that is the new iteration of the Outdoor Galore Store.
Shall it be the Alpha male businessman with the money behind him? The MBA with a knack for bumbling where he needs to bumble? The corporate shark with her steely gaze and determination to carve the world into a shape that suits her? The Alpha male upstart kid with a knack for understanding people and motivations without understanding that he has a knack?
It’ll probably be Nikki, who’s just looking for some job security, y’know?
Ever since Hollywood discovered that you can apparently fix anything onscreen with a computer, they have.
And now, according to the commercials, our phones will shoot and edit movies of Hollywood quality.
So, surely a crowd of folks cheering the Outdoor Galore Store is a fine start to an advertisement for Enis’s Good Sporting’s OutdoorsFest, right?
Sure it is.
Durnell’s just being flippant. Everyone’s always expecting something to go sidewise in television, at the OutdoorFest, and when you’re wearing a gold-tone tuxedo. It’s inevitable that something’s about to go sidewise. If you announce that you see it coming in hopes that people will think you’re psychic, well… all you’re gonna get is a nasty shock about just how sidewise “sidewise” can get.
Oh, sure, you have to make a fast decision… but it doesn’t have to be the wrong one!
You’ve been in meetings like that, right? Planning new projects, or parties, or programs… and the plans overshoot what you need, then overshoot what you were hoping for, then they overshoot what lies within the powers of mortal mankind.
Then you gotta dial it back to “Well, we’ve got enough budget to get four dozen balloons and a chicken nuglet platter from Chick-Fil-A instead.”
Sometimes it’s easiest to draw noise without any sort of written sounds. Weird.
