Today’s cartoon is just totally self-indulgent isn’t it?
Viking pirates and canoes and ship-shaped canoes and superheroes and the Star Trek reference…
You guys DID get the Star Trek, right?
We know Allan did.

Have you tried to explain to a younger person about Batman? The Adam West version, I mean. It’s not easy. You can tell them that, back in the fifties and sixties, Batman was kinda goofy in the comics. There was a lot of smiling and ‘imaginary stories’ where Batman, Superman, their wives and super-children went on picnics and stuff.
I’m too lazy to dig out those old comics I got from the used book store, but really… Adam West’s Batman wasn’t too far off the mark. Then.
I did my best growing up in the 70’s when Batman got all dour and dark. Jim Aparo art and that kinda thing.
The Dark Knight and The Killing Joke were coming out as my comic buying days were waning.
And still, I don’t recall Batman ever getting his big ol’ cape stuck in a car door or anything.
Here are some more entertaining shots from HeroesCon- I really should have gone around, I suppose, and gotten photos of other cartoonists and things, but lets face it- We weren’t there to have our photos made. The Cosplayers, though? Kinda there for a purpose. They announced via the P.A. that you were to use common Con etiquette and ask permission for photos, but with the nice crowd of folks that go to HeroesCon, shouting out “Hey! Photo Op!” and waggling your camera with a smile is perfectly acceptable.
Here are the first photos of the inaugural use of the Hubris Booth- The Con was fun, and I learned a LOT about what to do at the SECOND Con, y’know?
Hope you can come by next time. I’ll post a LOT more photos as I get ’em ready!
Hey! See how cleverly I worked conventions into the strip today (an EXTRA strip! Thank you, everyone, who donated using the ‘You & Hubris’ button over there on the left.)
I’m at HeroesCon just now, and hopefully drumming up new readers for Hubris! If YOU’re new here, and stopped by the booth at HeroesCon- Welcome! Welcome and Thank You! We’re glad you’re here! Come back as often as you can, please! Team Hubris needs all the players it can get, y’know.
So I’m doing a panel on webcomics at AnimeBluesCon. And I take a few photos of the people going around the con.
If you’re in the area and you want to see more girls with short skirts, long swords and hair the color of… well, any color you like from mango to ice… you should be there. It’s at the Hilton in Memphis. There are also people in long jackets, jagged wigs, and fur. Lots and lots of fur. There’s a rumor about how much fur, and what happens to it late Saturday at this Con. Anyone brave enough to go to THAT, let us know what the heck happened. Sounded lurid to me.
On Sunday at noon (6-23-13) I’ll be doing the webcomics panel again.
If you want to look closer at the photos here, you can click, and click again. Eventually, you can see something a little larger.
