You’d be proud. For lunch, I had a banana and a handful of beef jerky.
On the other hand, for breakfast I had two eggs and a bratwurst rolled up in a flour tortilla. It was after I took the dog for a walk in the woods, though.
Hopefully, I came out ahead. We’ll see.
I really do appreciate everyone’s advice- all of it. All the stuff that I already have heard and all the stuff that sounds different and engaging. It’s gonna take all of it for me to break the old habits and make some new ones. I should have brought it up sooner.
You can do it Greg. Just make that calorie worth eating.
Good to see Viking Overlord. Going to do another crossover cartoon or two?
Actually I submited the cast from my comic (Vikingoverlord.com) for this years Outdoor Fest.
Y’all have NO IDEA HOW PSYCHED I am to see them cameo in one of my favorite comics.
Greg, if you’re serious about this, there’s an approach that requires retuning your tastebuds before changing your eating habits. Penn (of Penn and Teller) talks about it in https://www.amazon.com/Presto-Pounds-Disappear-Other-Magical/dp/1501139525
sorry I can’t really help with that. my stomach only lets me eat in evenings, or I am sick right away for a few hours.
and for sure now I KNOW why he broke one of his horns…he lost memories or part of his brain with it.
This is a Helmet!!
Viking only wears his helmet when he’s serious.

Hey there Greg! I’m late to the party, but left a comment on yesterday’s that you may find some interest in. Or not. It’s yours now, though! 😉
On a similar topic, though, I have a question for all out there please?
-I referred yesterday to a system called “Stronglifts 5×5”. It’s a weight training thing, start out with bare bar, work up from there, very safe, sane, straightforward, etc. YAY! Challenge that I have found, and that our esteemed author may also find, is that I am middle to late 40’s. This stuff that’s for weight training seems to be focused on the younger set, and my body no longer works the same as it did 25 years ago! Also, what little I have found for middle age, seems ENTIRELY focused on the “mid-life crisis” DUDE. (Those might help you, Greg, but I’m sure the “crisis” part doesn’t apply lol.)
Anyone have any leads on weight training guides for the middle aged DUDETTE / GAL?? It’s kinda discouraging. I have found I LOVE it, but really can’t afford the setbacks of overtraining etc.
Thanks All!!
Good luck Greg – Be Careful!!!
I’m an old battered geekina and I mostly walk, and do stairs. Working up slowly is the best attack there is. Some things I started with five reps. Yep. And worked up.
Please keep in mind that if you’re a seriously active person, you have a bit more wiggle room than us couch potatoes. And remember, that if you Are going to do your usual all-over-the-place outdoorsy stuff, you Need more energy boosting caloric intake to make sure you don’t crash half way between Entering the white water and getting back Out Safely again.
After all, there’s “healthier” and then there’s “oi, that was stupid.”
YES! YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!
LETS GET READY TO VIKING!!!!
I suspect it’s genetic, different people are different. My body reacts well to high protein, high veggies, decent butter & dairy, cut the sugar down.
Also investigate planking. It’s DRASTICALLY improved my core strength. I started at 5 seconds, literally. 6 months later, I’m at 3 minutes and feeling lots better.
Oooh, yeah. I can throw that in the mix pretty good.
