You have no IDEA how funny that is for me to hear…
If you know anything about Roleplaying games from the 90’s, there was Vampire the Masquerade. Then they published “Mind’s Eye Theatre”the live action roleplaying game. I was in on it’s very start in the NY/NJ area and some of the games had literal hundreds of attendees. So, of course, this started off people trying to one up each other, grow the brand, do new things, etc etc..
One VERY ambitious group of folk tried making a game with EVERY product that White Wolf (The publisher) made. There were not rules for live action for every one of those systems, and some of them were just damn hard to translate. Vampire, Werewolf, Faerie folk, Evil Vampires (Sabbat)and of course, MAGE…
Now Mage was basically something that defied live action rules. Big bad Vampire gets angry at Mage= CHOMP. Middle level Mage get mad at Vampire =LAWNCHAIR!! But the guys running the game had a running narrative and a LOT of help, so they were willing to allow a FEW! LIMITED! INSTANCES! UNDER! TIGHT! CONTROL!!!
And then they frigged it up and gave ME one..
I had six months to plot and plan (and yes.. bribe the judges) I learned how to sew JUST to make this costume. I was playing a Mage, with a MASSIVE twist.. I was all but powerless until something happened. I bought a lab coat and cut it completely in two, velcro lining the inside. It was August in NYC and I was wearing basically two sets of clothes.. WORTH IT!!
It actually took about an hour and a half before I could make my full debut. I just walked around shyly talking about being nice to people.. or SOMETHING would happen.. “Oh.. you don’t want to get HIM mad..” Finally it happened! Someone broke the peace and openly attacked another person in front of me!!
SHHHHRRRRIIIPPP!!!
6 foot cape billowing behind me!
MASK coming on from out of nowhere!
LOUD AND FORTHCOMING TO THE ENTIRE GAME!!
DUN
DUN
DUNNNNNNN!
CAPTAIN CHAOS!!!
I played Captain Chaos the Mage for about two years.
Oh you didn’t think I’d go down THAT easy… Did you??
With the way you phrased that, do you *really* want an answer? 😛
more SLAMMING DOWN…if you aim right.
And yeah.. this is GORGEOUS!!
It’s not over until the fat lady falls into the water.
BEARDED LADY then. hehe
Good thing in both then? (Medical issues xD )
And this is what I was thinking yesterday.
Ummmm… Greg… My dirty eye is fixed on that unsightly appendage in the first panel – the one between Darren’s thighs!
“grab loop”. It’s the strap used to pull the spray skirt off the boat.
…AND YOU KNOW THAT.
But our dirty eyes see what our dirty eyes see.
Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!
Guessing this is the totter.
what goes up ALWAYS GOES DOWN!
now Darren…either TUCK AND ROLL OR SHO RYU KEN TIME!
[winces] oooh, this is gonna hoit on Sooo many levels…
hope there’s a good proctologist on hand to help with the outcome…
DUN DUN … DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhh!
