The Hometeam guys (guys? girls? entities?) don’t really seem to grasp the meaning behind business.

The meaning is, of course, in the broadest sense, “I don’t wish to farm the same property as my grandfathers and father.” or “If I work hard, I can spend time with my family, doing more than just eating and sleeping”.    The meaning gets subsumed when both your vocation and avocation is to “achieve more income than you did yesterday.”

I’m not saying they’ve forgotten that.  I’m speculating that they were born long after the society they live in had forgotten it, found it again, didn’t like the look of it, had the gardeners drop it in the composter, and mulched the rose garden on the south lawn with it.
