Hubris thinks what he thinks. He also knows that a lot of people who need therapy become therapists. And he knows that one of the first things you learn when becoming a therapist is that you can’t diagnose yourself or be your own therapist.
And so, Hubris thinks what he thinks. Maybe he ought to talk to a therapist?
Or a friend? Oh, wait…
So, Hubris shed Kara like he shed his skin?
Oof. That’s a… thought. Or he spent so much time trying not to get “invested” in the relationship, that he didn’t notice when/how much he did?
I dunno. I, having a hard time reading how he feels. I suspect he’s having the same difficulty, unfortunately.
Sounds pretty accurate. I think there’s a lightbulb getting lit in that last panel. His dad wasn’t just about the adventure, he was about sharing the adventure with his family. Hubris and Kara were sharing the adventure, but weren’t doing so as a family… yet!
I think Hubris has more baggage then he thinks he does. Part of the reason they failed as a couple was.. This. Nikki might be a better match, but she seems.. hurt. and scared. If they do get together, methinks it will take a shove or fifteen in the right direction.
I really like how you drew Hubris in that last panel. He looks so lost, confused, and tired as heck.
I don’t think Nikki is the next love interest. I think it’s still, Kara will get her head sorted out and be back. And Hubris, isn’t going to be settling down for at least another decade is my guess. Remember, at the beginning of the strip, Hubris DID propose to Kara… as well. Heh.
A man in fire is just getting burned in the end.
